Paul Douglas Van Der Walde, Founding Partner
Paul moved to Santa Clara County in 1990 by way of Scottsdale, Arizona and Boston, Massachusetts to study law at Santa Clara University. He received a Doctorate in Jurisprudence in 1993 and spent the next year serving as a defense attorney for a local insurance defense firm. During that year, Paul noted how many insurance companies took advantage of their clients and in response he joined a Bay Area civil litigation organization that focused on assisting plaintiffs with their personal injury cases. A partnership in 1995 formed Cornell & Van Der Walde, followed by Paul's establishment of Van Der Walde & Associates in 1997.
Paul has tried cases in the Santa Clara County courtrooms for ten years where he has become established among colleagues, judges and other legal professionals. Unlike numerous Santa Clara County lawyers who recklessly vie for notoriety with multi-million class action suits, Paul prefers to help real people who have become victims of accidents win their cases so they can move on with their lives.
Paul is a proud and active member of the Santa Clara community, supporting the economy as a member of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce and affiliated with the Silicon Valley Better Business Bureau. Over the years, Paul has had the benefit of several associations and achievements including:
- Who's Who in American Law (2000)
- Santa Clara Bar Association Board of Trustees
- Personal Injury Attorney of the year - Consumer Business Review
- Past President of the Sunnyvale/Cupertino Bar Association
- Million Dollar Advocates Forum
- Member SCCBA (Santa Clara County Bar Association)
- Member CAOC (Consumer Attorneys of California)
- Member ATLA (Association of Trial Lawyers of America)
- Judge Pro Tem Santa Clara County Superior Court
